Characters like Sister Megan, who had always worked as the crime-solving partners of Lois, were seen in new roles. In this case, the once useful and quirky nun is depicted as far more sinister than before and therefore raises many questions about her true motives.
As Murphy explained in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter,
“The idea that Ryan had, that we went with, is genuinely to surprise the audience. You’re supposed to find it in real-time”.
